Light and Sound (L/S) machines

When the Neurosurgeons examine patients, they use an Electroencephalograph
or EEG machine.
The frequencies are measured in Hz or cycles per second and 4 broad
bands are usually referred to:
Beta (14 – 40 Hz)
Alpha (8 – 13 Hz)
Theta (4 – 7 Hz)
Delta (4 Hz downwards)
This ranges from wide-awake in Beta to fast asleep in Delta. Lets
examine these 4 brain states in detail:
BETA BRAIN STATES
Beta is the awake, aware concentrating state that we are in most
of the day. In our normal “unstressed” state our brains
would be between 16 – 18 Hz. When the stress kicks in, this
goes way up to 30 or 40 cycles per second. When we get stressed
we don’t think clearly, we don’t perform at our peak,
stress creates “dis-ease”– we get sick. Doctors
are in agreement that up to 80% of all illness is stress or psychosomatically
induced, so it is very important to get stress out of our lives.
Children (and adults) suffering from ADD or ADHD have a shortage
of Beta brainwave activity. This means the brain does not click
up into concentrating state.
According to the experts, the most probably cause of ADD is an
abundance of Theta activity and a shortage of Beta . Sessions help
train the brain to get up into concentrating state via a session
called cognitive development. Research has shown the ability to
get some children off drugs such as Ritalin in 2 – 3 months.
ALPHA BRAIN STATE
Alpha is the desired state of meditators and is relatively easy
to achieve. With 6 to 12 months of meditation training, one should
be able to develop fairly balanced hemispheres in Alpha. When we
enter Alpha states with balanced hemispheres, the brain produces
neurochemical like Endorphins (the body’s natural stimulant
and also a pain reliever) and Serotonin (a natural anti-depressant).
SO we can treat stress and depression very effectively, without
the use of chemical drugs.
Typically males are left dominant (logical, rational, thinkers)
and typically females are right brain dominant (emotional, creative,
intuitive thinkers). When we balance the two hemispheres, we use
both sides of the brain, and we improve our mental acuity tremendously.
Long and short term memory is enhanced in Alpha (See extract from
MegaBrain overleaf) In Alpha we accelerate recovery from injury,
surgery, illness, physical exertion and jet lag.
A half hour session in Alpha leaves one feeling totally relaxed,
stress has hit the road. This is because of the Endorphins and the
Serotonin flowing around the bloodstream. Energy levels are increased
and one sleeps like a baby for a couple of nights. Pain is also
relieved (for a few days in some cases).
THETA BRAIN STATE
Theta is a very elusive state, the state that is associated with
hypnologic imagery. That dreamy state that one experiences in the
morning when one wakes up- when you definitely don’t want
to get out of bed – that would be the theta state. It takes
10 – 15 years of meditation training to induce properly.
Research shows that in that, the brain causes the Adrenal glands,
which sit on the kidneys, to suppress Immune factor in human beings.
And it enhances the production of the DHEA hormone. DHEA strengthens
the immune system and is associated with longevity. It can actually
make us livelonger. Many people say, “who wants to live longer?”
well maybe you don’t but at least enhance the quality of your
life while you are alive. We know that amongst the most long lived
people on the planet are Tibetan monks and transcendental meditators,
people who spend time in these altered brain states where the brain
makes these neurochemicals.
Being in Theta enhances creativity and problem solving skills.
We are able to access and resolve repressed memories that may be
holding us back or causing emotional turmoil. Theta is where Psychologists
take patients when they do regressions. Many long-term emotional
and health gains come from being in Theta on a regular basis.
DELTA BRAIN STATE
Delta is the sleep state. The good news is that in deep Delta, the
brain produces HGH Human Growth Hormone. This is the hormone that
builds bone, muscle, tissue, hair etc the stuff that keeps us young.A
special deep Delta session has been developed for Fibromyalgia sufferers,
and other chronic pain illness. In Deep Delta the brain absolutely
floods the body with Endorphins, the body’s natural painkiller.
We can go pain free for up to 3 days in some cases. Delta sessions
also put insomniacs to sleep.
